Performing Local Log Collection (Linux)

Overview:

When Halcyon Support is unable to gather Halcyon Linux logs remotely, you may be asked to collect and upload log data locally for troubleshooting purposes. This document provides you with the tools and instructions to aid in log collection.

Action:

Download the attached support collection tool and extract the executable to an empty folder path.

• You will need to make the file executable

chmod +x linux_log_surveyor

• then run command:

./linux_log_surveyor --full

• This will create a log output, in a folder called results. Compress this folder, including the device hostname in the file name for easier identification:

tar -cvf results_$(hostname).tar results/
