Environment:
Available to run on Windows x64 OSes
Overview:
C.L.U.E. (Collection of Logs and the User Experience) is a third party tool that provides automated data collection to aid in analyzing performance problems that may cause system delays. It has been developed for use on Microsoft Windows x64 Operating Systems where the end user does not have administrator rights or to capture difficult problems on Windows Server.
Action:
This tool should only be used if instructed by Halcyon Support. To download the install package and user guide, navigate to: https://spaces.hightail.com/space/kxQzchXJAF
Basic Install Instructions:
The basic install assumes a local install where performance files will be collected on a single device. Other installation options are available, refer to Usage Guide for additional detail.
After downloading the install package (Clue_1.1.6.zip), you may need to unblock the zip file. Right-click on the zip file, go to Properties, check Unblock, and click OK.
Extract the contents of the zip file to a local folder.
Run Setup.bat file to begin installation.
You will be prompted to define a network share, leave the entry blank and click OK.
You will be prompted to provide an email address to send report information to, leave the entry blank and click OK.
When the install is complete, several scheduled tasks will be created along with output folder C:\ClueOutput where all performance logging data will be written.
Additional Information:
When a performance-impacting event occurs on a machine, the relevant data will be automatically recorded and stored in the C:\ClueOutput directory. Each completed performance event will be compressed into an individual zip file within this directory.
Once the performance events are recorded, please collect all the zipped files from the C:\ClueOutput directory and forward them to Halcyon Support as instructed.
After the performance data collection is complete and there is no further need for the tool, you can uninstall it by running Uninstall.bat from an administrative Command Prompt.
Once you have confirmed that all performance data has been successfully uploaded to Halcyon Support you may proceed to delete the C:\ClueOutput directory.
